Many athletes will be trying to establish themselves even further. Six Indian players who have not yet received a cap are worth keeping an eye on this IPL 2024 season.
Sameer Rizvi – Chennai Super Kings
The Chennai Super Kings are interested in you because they perceive you as a player who can contribute in a specific manner. Known as the “right-handed Raina,” Sameer Rizvi is maybe the uncapped Indian player to watch out for the most in the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Involved in a bidding war in which CSK ultimately prevailed with an 8.4 crore bid, Rizvi has left quite an impression in his brief career thus far. During the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he amassed 277 runs at a strike rate of 139.89 and an average of 69.25 in seven games. Kumar Kushagra – Delhi Capitals
It may have surprised some that the Delhi Capitals spent 7.2 crore on Kumar Kushagra, a 19-year-old. Kushagra’s T20 batting statistics aren’t particularly impressive at this point—11 matches, 140 runs, an average of 15.55, and an SR of 117.64.
Still, his immense potential and his strong First Class (1,185 runs, average 40.86) and List A (700 runs, average 46.66, SR 89.05) records are what sparked the bidding battle.
In terms of List A cricket, his 67 off 37 balls for Jharkhand against Maharashtra during a successful 355-run chase was one of his most memorable innings. He finished with five sixes and four fours to cap off an incredible triumph.
Shahrukh Khan – Gujarat Titans
Shahrukh Khan was selected by the Gujarat Titans, the 2022 winners, for 7.4 crore not long after he was let go by the Punjab Kings. Khan’s greatest strength is his ability to finish, therefore it would be intriguing to watch how he does in 33 IPL matches at his current strike rate of 134.81.
In the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Shahrukh didn’t have the best of tournaments, scoring just 45 runs with a strike rate of less than 100 in five innings. But the IPL, a major platform with a team that has done well in the first two seasons, can bring out the best in him.
Shubham Dubey – Rajasthan Royals
With his outstanding finish, Shubham Dubey lighted up the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy competition. In one of the games, he scored an undefeated 58 off just 20 balls, helping Vidarbha defeat Bengal by successfully chasing down 213 runs. Six sixes and three fours were hit during the innings.
Dubey scored 221 runs in total with a strike rate of 187.28 and an average of 73.66. The Royals had some difficulty finishing in 2023, so it makes sense that they paid 5.80 crore to sign him.
Riyan Parag – Rajasthan Royals
Given that Riyan Parag has been a part of the IPL for a considerable amount of time, it may seem odd to see him on this list. But now is the moment for him to step up.
Fans and commentators have frequently criticized Parag for his inconsistent play and on-field theatrics. However, the Rajasthan Royals have remained steadfast, and given how well Parag has played there domestically, this may be the season when they move him up to number four.
For the Royals, his 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign would have been a huge delight. With seven fifties in ten matches, Parag concluded with the highest average of 85.00 and strike rate of 182.79, finishing with the highest number of runs (510). Is it possible for him to translate some of those number to the IPL.
Karthik Tyagi – Gujarat Titans
Under the direction of Ashish Nehra and colleagues, gifted bowler Karthik Tyagi has the opportunity to solidify his position in an IPL team. Tyagi has a strong track record in the competition; in the 2021 edition, he gave a standout performance with his attention-grabbing yorkers. Without a doubt, he will be driven to perform, particularly at the very end, when further accolades might be in store for him.
Tyagi was acquired by the Titans for a mere INR60 lakh during the auction, and should the pacer live up to his potential, they might receive a great deal for their investment.
