MoI expands role of female police officers
Sun, 01 Aug 2010
KUWAIT CITY: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has expanded the scope of the participation of female police officers in the maintenance of law and order, although some lawmakers have threatened to take certain procedures if the ministry insists on assigning policewomen to the field, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting sources.
Sources revealed the ministry has decided to engage the services of female officers in bike, traffic and security operations. Sources said the ministry will assign two female officers in each police station, while there will be special incentives for those who prefer patrol assignments. Sources added the Police Academy will organize a security patrol and training course early next year before deploying the female police officers to roads. Sources confirmed the ministry leadership has urged the media to enlighten the public on the role of female officers.
