 Sun, 30 Nov 2014

KUWAIT CITY : The number of bachelors residing in private residential areas increased remarkably due to the practice of some citizens who rent out governmentgranted houses, reports Al- Rai daily quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs in the Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fattah Al- Ali. He pointed out the phenomenon led to the establishment of several commercial centers and restaurants in private residential areas; thereby, increasing the number of foreign workers in these areas, especially the bachelors.

He said the action is illegal and it poses a grave threat to public safety and security, so the Public Security Sector launched a comprehensive campaign involving hundreds of security officers to end such a phenomenon. Commenting on the statistical report published by Al-Rai daily on the rising number of foreign workers and bachelors in the Capital Governorate and in private residential areas, Al-Ali asserted, “Such reports will come in handy in planning for public security work, which is focused on pursuing criminals, destroying vice dens and monitoring the distribution of foreign workers in residential areas.

He warned all establishments proven to have violated the law will be closed immediately, indicating the campaign involves many governmental agencies like the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, Kuwait Municipality, Electricity and Water Ministry, Social Affairs and Labor Ministry, and Commerce and Industry Ministry. He asserted, “Maintaining security is our duty and we will never allow certain people to serve their interests at the expense of our security”.
