KUWAIT CITY : About 57 meat traders closed their shops in Souk Al-Mubarakiya recently after receiving warnings from an official of Capital Municipality, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
They revealed that the official ordered them to put out all the meat on display inside glasses for their customers, which was the first time they received such a demand. One of the butchers Khalid Al- Khalifa explained that the warning was not issued by the Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Subai’e, affirming that they have been displaying meat a certain way for many years and they are unsure of the reasons behind changing the method now.
He also affirmed that all butcher shops have been applying the safety, cleanliness and health rules and instructions of Kuwait Municipality, stressing that the shops only sell fresh meat to its customers.
